MSD, Netherlands

The new manufacturing facility at Boxmeer will include production capacity for sterile filling and freeze drying of vaccines and will provide MSD Animal Health with additional manufacturing resources to meet the growing customer demand.

Solution

The project was delivered on a phased basis and utilised modular build and off-site construction to achieve programme timelines and minimise operational and neighbourhood impacts. Dortek doors were installed and integrated into panel wall systems within the modular Pods. After these pods got to site, the Dortek doors were then commissioned. This involved multi site co-ordination and Dortek were able to give technical assistance from early design stage for ease of door integration. Dortek were able to provide customized frame systems that covered width between the joining of the modular pods.

The doors also had to meet rigorous site cleaning requirements for chemical cleaning, air pressure regimes, fire certification and access control.

Dortek supplies doors into a 50mm panel wall system. The client requested a flush integrated magnet. We developed a solution to provide the flush magnet that integrates into the frame head. The Dortek katro frame enables very quick door and frame installation time for the contractor, as the doors are factory fitted with ironmongery and integrated magnetic locks, but also the frame and door system can be installed later in the project meaning more flexibility during the erection of the panel walls and better quality control. This detail is now being implemented in many of our other projects as the standard magnet detail for 50 and 60mm wall panel systems.

Many of the Dortek doors were interlocked, which included flush integrated mag locks into a 50mm frame system, traffic light and door activation where the doors were automated, and connection to the BMS (Building Management System).
