MSD, Netherlands

The new manufacturing facility at Boxmeer will include production capacity for sterile filling and freeze drying of vaccines and will provide MSD Animal Health with additional manufacturing resources to meet the growing customer demand.

The project was delivered on a phased basis and utilised modular build and off-site construction to achieve programme timelines and minimise operational and neighbourhood impacts. Dortek doors were installed and integrated into panel wall systems within the modular Pods. After these pods got to site, the Dortek doors were then commissioned. This involved multi site co-ordination and Dortek were able to give technical assistance from early design stage for ease of door integration. Dortek were able to provide customized frame systems that covered width between the joining of the modular pods.

The doors also had to meet rigorous site cleaning requirements for chemical cleaning, air pressure regimes, fire certification and access control.

UCB, Belgium

The provision of a cGMP Commercial Production Biologics Facility will be built on UCB’s existing site. The facility will be a multi-product manufacturing facility for the production of Mab-type bulk Drug substances under cGMP conditions with high operational efficiency.

Dortek supplied fire rated hinged doors to Ei1 60 to Belgian fire standards. We also supplied hermetic sealing sliding doors with automations. Doors were integrated into the concrete and plasterboard fire rated walls. We installed doors in the facilities cleanroom areas which are used for preparation, production, purification, formulation and dispensing.

Dortek GRP doors were pretested for the specific cleaning chemicals used at the facility to ensure that they would remain unaffected. We tested our doors for Surfanios Premium & Incidin Pro – UN1903 Disinfectant Liquid cleaner manufactured by ECOLAB. These are used in monthly cleaning regimes. H2O2 (6%) which Dortek doors are also resistant too is then used in the cleaning regimes at least twice a year.

Profarma, Albania

Profarma required replacement fire doors for their 60mm cleanroom panel. The doors needed to be well suited to hygienic environments and meet GMP guidelines.

Profarma possess high production potential by ensuring the quality of the final product in accordance with rules laid down by GMP. Our seamless doors are ultra hygienic, void free and easy to clean which makes them ideally suited to cleanroom areas.

Rechon Life Science

The facility required GMP compliant doors as it operates under cGMP and is regularly inspected by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, US FDA and other health authorities.

Dortek designed, manufactured and installed GRP doors to the life science facility from our factory in Ystad, Sweden. Dortek GRP doors have a smooth, sealed, non absorbent surface which is easy to clean. It is also excellent resistance to most disinfectants, solvents and strong chemicals, including H2O2.

Bristol Myers Squibb, cell therapy facility, Leiden

The client required hygienic door solutions for its new cell therapy manufacturing plant.

Dortek doors are designed to meet CGMP requirements and have a seamless gel coat finish which is non absorbent and easy to clean. These doors are high performance and low maintenance making them ideal for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications. Dortek provided fire rated hinged doors to meet EN 1634-1 and local Netherlands fire requirements.

Dortek supplies doors into a 50mm panel wall system. The client requested a flush integrated magnet. We developed a solution to provide the flush magnet that integrates into the frame head. The Dortek katro frame enables very quick door and frame installation time for the contractor, as the doors are factory fitted with ironmongery and integrated magnetic locks, but also the frame and door system can be installed later in the project meaning more flexibility during the erection of the panel walls and better quality control. This detail is now being implemented in many of our other projects as the standard magnet detail for 50 and 60mm wall panel systems.

Many of the Dortek doors were interlocked, which included flush integrated mag locks into a 50mm frame system, traffic light and door activation where the doors were automated, and connection to the BMS (Building Management System).

Bracco Suisse, Geneva

The facility required hygienic door systems for its new multifunctional facility which will double the Geneva-based factory’s manufacturing capacity. The development will increase production capacity and improve efficiency and manufacturing processes at the site.

Dortek supplied hygienic GRP fire rated doors, mainly F30 and F60 doors. Some of these doors had automation (130 degree opening). Also, others had panic bars for emergency exit. Dortek GRP doors are the preferred choice for cleanrooms due to their smooth, seamless surface which does not harbour bacteria unlike alternative laminate, timber or steel doors.

Dick White Referrals – Veterinary Specialists

The centre’s operating facilities were expanded with two new theatres bringing the total to five. Dortek were asked to supply and install specialist hygienic door systems for the new theatres.

Dortek manufactured specialist hygienic double action hinged doors with stainless steel frames for the practice. Our seamless doors are completely void free, easy to clean and do not harbour bacteria making them ideal for veterinary facilities.

Practice testimonial:

“Infection control is of critical importance in our premises and, therefore, specifying the correct doors for our new operating theatres was crucial. We are impressed with the high quality and clean appearance of Dortek’s doors which are particularly suited to sterile areas. Their installation team were very professional, helpful and knowledgeable and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others in the industry,” explains Dick White.

Summerdale Veterinary Centre in Billericay

Dortek were chosen to replace some damaged timber doors with our hygienic GRP doors with stainless steel frames. Timber and timber laminate doors are easily damaged under impact in veterinary facilities where there is high footfall and frequent movement of equipment and cages.

Dortek supplied hygienic hinged doors with stainless steel frames throughout the building in the operating theatres, x-ray room and hydrotherapy areas. Some doors also had automations and access control locks for ease of access and increased security. X-ray rated doors were also supplied for the protection of animals and staff in the x-ray areas. Our veterinary doors are ideal for these areas due to their hygienic and easy to clean surface. They are resistant to moisture, harsh cleaning chemicals and animal urine. The GRP door blades are hard wearing and the stainless steel frames resist the damage that is caused by dog leads, equipment and animal cages.

Hovione, Portugal

The company has expanded its continuous tableting capacity with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at its site in Loures, Portugal. The company invested $70m to develop the facility, which is part of its broader $170m investment programme to increase its production capacity by around 25% by 2023.

The client had a problem with air pressures in their ATEX rated zone of the pharmaceutical cleanroom where the existing doors were warping and had excessive air leakage with the air pressure differentials. Dortek supplied 2 unequal pair of doors with stainless steel frame system fitting flush into 60mm panel wall into a PAL air lock. The client had more than 30 pascal pressure pushing the door open, and with no electrical locking allowed, we were able to find a solution for them to ensure the doors closed against the pressure and reduced excessive air loss.

Our seamless doors are ultra hygienic, void free and easy to clean which makes them ideally suited to cleanroom areas.

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), Pwllheli

Pwllheli Lifeboat Station was first established by the (RNLI) in 1891 at a cost of £480. The station currently operates a Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat and a D-class (IB1) lifeboat. A new station was completed in 2020 to accommodate the latest Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat.

Dortek supplied a Spacelite HT60 to the main boat entrance and Sectiolite ST40 and Spacelite HT40 to the other entrances. Both door systems are made of translucent fibreglass and are characterized by their low wear design which purposely avoids protruding hinges, helix cables or springs susceptible to faults, and thus reduces maintenance work.

The Butzbach SPACELITE stacking doors are space-saving and extremely wear-resistant. When opening each door element lines up vertically and compactly one behind the other. Thanks to this mechanism, SPACELITE stacking doors are suitable for almost all installation situations – both in new buildings and for renovations.
