Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), Pwllheli
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the largest charity that saves lives at sea around the coasts of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man, as well as on some inland waterways.
Brief
Pwllheli Lifeboat Station was first established by the (RNLI) in 1891 at a cost of £480. The station currently operates a Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat and a D-class (IB1) lifeboat. A new station was completed in 2020 to accommodate the latest Shannon-class all-weather lifeboat.
Solution
Dortek supplied a Spacelite HT60 to the main boat entrance and Sectiolite ST40 and Spacelite HT40 to the other entrances. Both door systems are made of translucent fibreglass and are characterized by their low wear design which purposely avoids protruding hinges, helix cables or springs susceptible to faults, and thus reduces maintenance work.
The Butzbach SPACELITE stacking doors are space-saving and extremely wear-resistant. When opening each door element lines up vertically and compactly one behind the other. Thanks to this mechanism, SPACELITE stacking doors are suitable for almost all installation situations – both in new buildings and for renovations.
