Recognised by Historic England to be a particularly good example of a Modern Movement swimming pool. A series of dramatic arches span the swimming pool which was said on opening in 1936 to have “the dignity of a modern cathedral”. Large side windows let natural light flood the pool. The art deco influence is evident in the building, in particular the Turkish hot rooms which are vividly decorated in black and cream tiles. Additions to the building were made in the 1970s including the provision of a teaching pool.
Since our successful completion of Hygienic Doors installed at Mounts Baths in Northampton, Oliver Bazeley from PHP Architects has endorsed Dortek with an email testimonial…
“PHP Architects have worked closely with Dortek on this significant refurbishment project of Mounts Swimming Baths in Northampton. This Grade 2 Listed building, originally constructed in 1936, provides an unique example of the Art Deco style, particularly with its fine jointed ashlar façade and the iconic parabolic arch over the main swimming pool. We were involved in a complete re-design and remodelling of the wet-side changing rooms. Major works to remove walls, replace all cubicles and finishes has been undertaken whilst the pool continued to be used. The Client, Northampton Leisure Trust, wanted all elements to be robust and long-lasting which was a key factor in deciding to use the fully encapsulated Dortek doors and frames. The new design achieves a spacious and generous new ‘village’ style changing facility whilst respecting the Art Deco style using a subtle palette of white, grey and black colours. These works will allow this beautiful building to be enjoyed for generations to come.”
Our doors can also be seen in this video showcasing the brand new changing area at Mounts Baths…
The time is fast approaching for the Dortek Hull Tough Mudder team to put their training to the test and throw themselves into the dirt, fire, ice, electricity, mayhem and pain of the Yorkshire Tough Mudder.
We’ve had a huge amount of support and we’d like to thank each and every one of you who has already donated through our just giving pages.
However, just like we’ve still got time to train hard, as you can see we take training very seriously…
There is also time for you to donate hard so please (we’re not above begging!), please pick a charity or team member to support so we can smash our group target.
There’s no favouritism, no egos or hurt feelings, just support who you want or which charity you want and get that feel good factor that you’ve helped out a great cause.

Dortek has extended its existing BIM objects range to include Industrial Doors.
Instead of the traditional vertical opening, the Novosprint door opens horizontally for twice the speed and significantly improved safety. The two halves of the door open sideways in less than a second. This makes the entire height of the door immediately accessible and drastically cuts the risk of collisions or accidents.
Dortek are continuously extending their range of BIM objects with a total of 10 different product categories now available for download from the website. The Dortek product range includes hinged hygienic doors, sliding hygienic doors, fire rated doors, lead lined doors, glass doors, hermetic doors, retail doors, transfer hatches and hygienic windows.
All our objects are available in user friendly Revit file format and are Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and COBie compatible. To view Dortek’s range of BIM objects, please visit here on the Dortek website or BIMstore.
